Stivali has over 20 years of shoemaking experience. Louis Guarin is a second-generation shoemaker, as the atelier was first conceived in 1998 in Bogota, Colombia by Eduardo Guarin, Louis Guarin’s father and mentor. Louis Guarin and Lina Cristancho, co-founders of Stivali New York, founded the footwear label in 2016, when they got married and moved to NYC. Their family’s atelier employs over 60 people. Their workers are compensated above local minimum wages, offered health insurance and retirement plans. Their team in Colombia is over 50% women heads of household. They fill a gap between fast fashion and designer shoes; accessible luxury. They have developed a slow fashion model that is efficient, modern and inclusive.
